Heinrich SCHEIDEMANN 1595 - 1663
Young Heinrich worked in Amsterdam, from 1611 to 1614 close to Jan-Pieterszoon Sweelinck. He was an organist in Saint Catherine in Hamburg until his death, he was a victim of a plague epidemic, in 1663, when he will succeed Johann-Adam Reincken.
« Scheidemann, it is a singing organ... »tells us Professor Alfred Ebner.
The free forms are especially the ones in the « Preambuli », in a way of a plein-jeu coming both from the intonazione of Gabrieli and the toccate of Sweelinck.
The fantasia-chorale coming exclusively from Northern Germany is the top of Scheidemann 's art. It is composed in « stylus phantasticus » as Morley had described it in 1596 and much later Mattheson.
Scheidemann's personal style was recognized very early for its clarity, its vividness, and its very deft technique.
« Bernard Coudurier, impressive with his maitrise, integrated his style, as one identifies a rôle. On the keyboards of a somptuous Schnitger restore by jurgend Ahrend, Bernard Coudurier declaims the text as an actor would. Because the art of rhetoric, even musical rhetoric is also the art of stating things. It is a dead language to which Coudurier gives life, without any concession for theatrical effects. The inspiration is vast, a presence can not be denied, every word is carefully thought out, every line spreads in space in a tangible way. Bernard Coudurier, who makes us understand what the ancient term « touch » an instrument means, and gives bak to this music its greatness, its sense of architecture and decoration. A very good sound recording contributes towards the clarity of the discourse. »
CHOC DU MONDE DE LA MUSIQUE /Shock in the world of music
« Perfect for its poetry and his freedom, intense and steady, Coudurier embodies the perfect performer on this wonderful piece by Norden. Bernard Coudurier gives a radiant image of it. A real moment of purity, both musical and experimental, an architectural magnificence enriched with the aura of a sensitive grace and the refined elevation of the late renaissance. »
